Hey 78^th warders past and present,

After serving for over 3 ½ years, Bishop Ogden is being released this coming Sunday. In an attempt to show him how much we love and appreciate him, I am trying to put together a little memory book of sorts for his departure. I need help though. Please email me back ASAP with any thank yous, memories, well wishes, anything! It will only take a minute…just type a line or two (or more if you like). And if you have any pictures of ward activities over the years and can email them or get them to me somehow, awesome! I am trying to get this all put together by Saturday, August 1st. I hope everyone is doing well and having a fabulous summer break! Thanks for your help!

Friday and Saturday, June 26-27

The campsite is in St. Anthony, just north of the town. It's right by Fun Farm Bridge. Takes 20 minutes to get there, tops.

Get on the highway going north. Go past St. Anthony a couple of miles . Watch for a brown, sportsman access sign that will say Fun Farm Bridge. Take that left-hand turn onto Fun Farm Road. Go straight, the road will curve to the right, and then you'll see the bridge on your left. Go over the bridge and the campsite is on the left, a large grass field along the bank of the river. Parking is to the left around the corner.

I think Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast

will be provided.

Great activity we had on Saturday, May 16th. We were served Steak and potatoes! Thanks to Bishop Ogden and Brother Murdock for cooking those steaks. The Perkes cooked tons of potatoes at their home. Great job guys!
Bocce Ball and Kickball were played by some, but most just hung out, got to know each other and talked.

Oh and I forgot those who remember Kenny and Lindsay Weston who used to be in the ward. They had their baby girl several months ago

Brynlee Weston was born Monday, February 9, 2009 at 12:10 p.m.
She weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces

Since I'm playing catch-up, in January the Marshall and Jessica Andersen (also used to be in the ward) and their son Reve welcomed a baby girl Lexi May on January 16 at 8:01 am. She was 6lbs 6oz and 19 inches long.

Relief Society Brunch

We had a yummy brunch of fruit, bagels, flavored breads, french toast sticks, and cinnamon rolls. Then to work it off, Bekka taught us some international dances. Way fun!

We had our Relief Society Birthday Party on March 17. We had bread bowls with yummy soup. Then had a wonderful program/skit to learn more about past Relief Society presidents. Then we had delicious raspberry chocolate cake.

Basketball!

We won our first game in the playoffs.

We won another game on March 17th and then had another game a couple hours later that we lost, but we worked really hard. We were down by 10 or 12 and then caught up and were only down by 2 in the last minutes. It was great playing and thanks those who cheered us on!

Nursing Covers

These are from one of our craft group days....Emily Perkes brought in directions on how to make nursing covers! There were many moms that have been dying to know how to make these including me.

Directions straight from Emily

Cut Material:

one piece 37 1/2 inches wide and 28 inches long
Two piece 24 inches long and 4 inches wide for the ties
One piece of stiff plastic 16 inches long and one inch wide (strips from plastic floor runners, gallon ice cream pail handles, or boning found at Porter's fabric section or at Joann Fabrics)

Ties: fold material in half with right side to the inside. Sew close to the edge---on one end, begin a diagonal 4 inches from the end- to the point. (This makes the end of the tie) Inside out the ties-using a scissors end to get the "point" as sharp as possible. Iron---then attatch to cover-up part.

Cover-up part: Sew small seams on both sides and then bottom of large piece.
Fold over hem on the top---large enough for the plastic piece to slide through-make sure you allow for the seam line as well. ****If there is a selvage at this end, you do not need to fold a hem underneath-fold over 1 1/2 in and then make a 1/4 inch seam. ****If no selvage, turn over a bit to form the hem, but be sure you still have a 1 1/2 of a "sleeve" to pull the plastic through.
Put the 16 inch piece of plastic or boning directly in the middle of the top, then attach the ties (the two 24 inch pieces) immediately on either side of the plastic. Sew the ties on all four sides across the hemmed down part and the tapers of the tie toward the outer edge of the cover-up.

Girls' Night!

Just wanted to know if anyone wanted to go see Bride Wars (it's PG and 90 minutes long) with me (Maryanne Nelson) Tuesday, March 3rd at 9pm at the Holiday 3 cheap theatres....the cost is only $2 on Tuesdays.

I know many of you are in school or have kids, but wanted to see if you wanted to come anyways for a girls' night...I'll be bringing my baby because that's right when he eats plus he did really well the last time we went to the theatre.

We'll meet there at about 8:45pm, just comment or call me if you can come so I know who to look for! Invite whoever you want!!!!!

Bitter's Baby

Cooking Group Getting to Know You

So Bekka always tries to think of questions to ask the girls during our cooking groups. Last night's question: What has been the best date you've been on with your husband?

Megan MacBeth: Mexico cruise (They're going another one in a month or two)

Maryanne Nelson: prom (we weren't husband and wife back then) but prom really got things going in our relationship...the night of our first kiss...any dates that Mike actually asks me out and does most of the planning

Liz Taylor: just a fun dinner where the guys decorated with candles and glow sticks and then we went dancing

Bekka Hansen: recently ice skating and bowling (even though they had Lucy with them)

Erin Murdock: Lake Tahoe...went on a little boat cruise on the lake

My question that I thought of since it is a cooking group: What one food can you eat everyday?

Megan: pulled pork from Cafe Rio with lime rice

Liz: stir-fry

Erin: Hawaiian Haystacks

Maryanne: everyone else said a dinner food, but me Turtle Cheesecake from Johnny Carinos....mmmmm!

Help!! This is Laura White from the ward. Jake and I just lost our cleaning job in Aspen Village due to downsizing and would like to find a new apartment in the ward.

Cooking group, everyone brought great food and we all got to know each other. Some of the foods people brought were Taco Ring, spinach dip, sauteed onion and sausage with penne, Ham 'n Cheese Calzones, Simple Crispy Chicken, Beef Taco Skillet, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Scotcharoos (sp?), Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Muffins & Bread, Upside Down Shepherd's Pie. Bekka Hansen loves to dance: clogging, soft shoe, folk, etc. Loves that her husband never raises his voice...met him in Singles branch in Arizona, graduated college in 2005
Charisa VanderSloot loves that her husband is so patient and has to know the whole picture before making a decision, excited about baby number 2 but worried about getting used to how dependent baby girl will be
Brittany Campbell married for almost 3 months, served a mission, met husband the only time he went stadium singing
Danielle Hite from Mississippi and from Lehi, UT. Was one of Erin Murdock's Ridge girls, her dad is on the good dad list for managers =)
Emily O'Connor graduated from Madison High in 2005, has lived all over
Laura Brown loves that her husband really understands her, loves to just do nothing with him, be around him and talk to him
Maryanne Nelson (me!) First things she noticed about her husband-he was so easy to talk to and very generous. Loves to see her husband interact with baby James in her, measuring 2 weeks bigger, loves being pregnant and is not worried about anything with the baby except for maybe money.
Laura White met her husband her junior year of college went from dating a guy getting his masters to a freshman in college. Her baby Hannah sleeps through most of the night until recently...had to wake up at 5am with her the other day.
Emily Young loves that her husband is so Christ-like, married for 3 months, majoring in Spanish education and minoring in PE
Erin Murdock married for 3.5 years, met her husband her last year in school and his freshman year, graduated college in 2005.
Emily Perkes loves that her husband can always make her laugh....he can be funny and spiritual at the same time.

Arrive at 6:00 pm and set up tents.
Eat dinner- Hawaiian roasted pig provided.
Short fireside with the Bishop and his wife, and s'mores.
Night games.

Saturday

Breakfast- cereal and fruit provided.
So Much Fun: canoeing, volleyball, floating, sponge-ing, bocce ball, fishing, swimming, capture-the-flag, mafia, water ballooning, hanging out, and so much more!
Lunch- sub sandwiches provided.
More fun for as long as you want!

You Need to Bring:

Side dish or dessert for friday night.
A tent (if you have one, let us know if you need one).
Bedding or a sleeping bag.
A camp chair or a blanket to sit on.

Our ward boundaries changed so tell all your friends who used to be in the ward to come too! See you there!

Good-bye to all those who moved out of the ward this semester. Good luck in all that you do.

Today is Laura Stucki's birthday, so send her a shout.

The Stuckis and Ellises moved out of the ward too.

Nate Brown is in New York for the summer and Sara Brown will soon be moving in with her mom until she has the baby.

Stake Conference is Saturday, April 26th at 6pm and Sunday, April 27th at 10am.

The Matt and Nicole Lawrence had their baby boy, Lucas. Ann is now a big sister. More details later.

The Orme twins were blessed today. It was fun to see all their family there.
